WyoTech Driver Bruno Massel, Jr. Wins Big at NHRA Awards Banquet

NHRA Sportsman drag racer Bruno Massel, Jr. and his team received four awards at the NHRA Lucas Oil Series Division Five awards banquet last week for their outstanding performance in the 2008 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. Massel is sponsored by WyoTech, the official technical school of NHRA.

Massel and his team received the Division 5 Championship trophy for the Competition Eliminator class, as well as the “Lucas Oil Sportsman Driver of the Year” and “Aeromotive Top Qualifier” awards...

Shelby Automobiles, Inc. reports success recruiting WyoTech grad

Graduates in the automotive industry have a whole host of jobs awaiting them. One such company, Shelby Automobiles, Inc., which builds high-performance, limited-production supercars such as the Shelby GT and Shelby GT500KR, has sought WyoTech graduates for a wide variety of positions.

Shelby currently employs more than a half dozen Laramie campus WyoTech graduates in production line, research and development, fabrication and prototype work.

TMC Awards Diesel Technician Scholarship to WyoTech

Brian G. Haines, Taneytown, Md., is the recipient of a truck technician scholarship for the 2008-2009 academic year provided by WyoTech in partnership with the Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) of American Trucking Associations.

WyoTech Students Honor Returning Soldier with Hot Rod Makeover

WyoTech students and staff from Laramie, Wyo. recently teamed up to make a dream come true for Army National Guard pilot Andrew Stiles. Working after hours, students and instructors completely renovated his 1973 Plymouth Barracuda. The finished car was unveiled as a surprise on Saturday, May 17 when Stiles returned from Iraq to his family in Coweta, Oklahoma.

Andrew Stiles, like many soldiers serving in the armed forces, put his life, hobbies and passions on hold to serve his country. While Stiles was flying C-23s and Blackhawks over Iraq, dozens of WyoTech students worked to convert his vintage Barracuda into a beautiful, modern muscle car...

WyoTech provides expertise to Drag Race High reality show

WyoTech, the official technical school of NHRA, recently offered its guidance and technical know-how to Drag Race High, a reality TV show that pits rival high school students against each other as they build race cars. The show captured the emotion, rivalry, and real-life lessons of preparation and competition as contestants raced against the clock to build a race car from the ground up.

Nine weeks of classroom theory and hands-on building led two Tennessee high school teams, Fairview High School in Fairview and East Hickman High School in Lyles, to a final face-off
